OpenAssets and Sui Team Up on Institutional Tokenization Standard
OpenAssets and Sui are developing OTAS, an open tokenized asset standard hosted under Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust to bridge institutional systems with the Sui ecosystem.
OpenAssets and Sui blockchain are joining forces to develop the OpenAssets Tokenization Standard, known as OTAS, a framework designed to define how tokenized asset systems can connect seamlessly to the Sui ecosystem, the organizations announced October 1, 2026.
The standard will be hosted under LF Decentralized Trust, the Linux Foundation's governance body for enterprise blockchain and decentralized technology projects. Positioning OTAS within that neutral, open-source umbrella is intended to give the standard broader institutional credibility and encourage adoption across competing platforms and asset classes.

The collaboration reflects growing momentum among financial institutions to establish common technical rails for tokenized assets, a market that spans everything from tokenized treasuries and private credit to real-world asset funds. By designing OTAS as blockchain-agnostic in principle while targeting Sui integration, the partners aim to lower the interoperability barriers that have slowed institutional adoption of on-chain settlement infrastructure.
OpenAssets, headquartered in Pittsburgh, describes itself as a leading digital asset firm focused on institutional-grade tokenization infrastructure. Sui, developed by Mysten Labs, has positioned its high-throughput layer-one blockchain as a preferred settlement layer for financial applications. The formal governance structure provided by LF Decentralized Trust is expected to allow third-party contributors and other blockchain networks to participate in shaping the standard over time.
