PayJoy Acquires Finia AI Assets to Boost Underwriting Tech
PayJoy is acquiring strategic assets from Finia AI to enhance its AI-driven underwriting and expand financial services in emerging markets.
PayJoy, a San Francisco-based financial services firm focused on underserved consumers in emerging markets, announced Monday it has agreed to acquire select strategic assets from Finia AI, a move the company says will strengthen its artificial intelligence underwriting capabilities and broaden its product offerings.
The transaction brings Finia's technology and experience serving micro-businesses directly onto PayJoy's global platform. Micro-businesses — typically small, informal enterprises with limited credit histories — represent a significant and largely untapped segment in the emerging-market financial ecosystem, where traditional lenders have historically struggled to assess creditworthiness.

By integrating Finia's AI-driven tools, PayJoy aims to sharpen its ability to evaluate borrowers who fall outside conventional underwriting models. The acquisition signals a broader industry trend of fintech companies turning to machine-learning solutions to serve populations that remain excluded from mainstream banking and credit systems.
PayJoy has built its business around providing smartphones and financial products to consumers in markets where access to credit is constrained. Adding Finia's assets is expected to deepen the company's analytical infrastructure and potentially accelerate the development of new financial products tailored to underserved communities across its operating regions.
Financial terms of the asset acquisition were not disclosed. Continue reading at All Financial Services & Investing.
